For 20 years, we have implemented empathetic communication in our preschools in various ways. The empathic approach is inspired by NVC (Nonviolent Communication) --- a communication model developed by American psychologist, Dr Marshall B. Rosenberg. Through NVC, we increase the possibility of meeting each other with respect, by understanding each other's needs and desires, and interacting in a way that leads to mutual development.

During a visit at our Preschools, we share how we maintain, practice and develop our empathic approach. By using a conscious empathic approach, we learn from every situation and every challenge. In collaboration with the training company G.A.M (Give it a Minute) and NVC trainer, Tracy Seed in London, we now offer courses, educational trips and training sessions on the subject of empathic communication.

International on-line empathic training for early years settings

Want to be an empathy educator?

This online course offers practical tools to strengthen children with compassion in less than a minute. You will discover how empathy looks and feels in a care and education setting. You’ll develop Nonviolent Communication skills (created by Dr Marshall Rosenberg), and mindful practices you can use immediately.

Who is this training for?

This course is for educators in preschools. It is suitable if you are completely new to learning about empathy or if you have some prior understanding. This course is for those wanting to be empathy educators and contribute to creating better well-being, care and cooperation in societies.

The course will cover:

For over 20 years, empathetic communication has been a natural part of everyday life at our five preschools. It is more than a method - it is an approach that strengthens both the collaboration between educators and our long-term work to give children a secure foundation for self-esteem, self-awareness and good relationships.

Our work draws inspiration from NVC (Nonviolent Communication), a communication model developed by American psychologist Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg. By practicing listening with empathy, understanding feelings and needs, and expressing oneself respectfully, we create the conditions for meetings that are characterized by understanding, cooperation, and mutual development.

Over the years, we have welcomed a large number of study visits, given lectures and workshops both in Sweden and internationally, and participated in research and development projects together with colleagues in Norway and Denmark. Our experiences have inspired educators, school leaders and organizations who want to strengthen their relationship-building work and create more empathetic learning environments.

Visit our preschools together with teachers from all over Europe

Study visits, workshops and lectures on empathetic communication

For many years we have hosted study visits, held courses, lectures and workshops both in Sweden and internationally. We have also participated in studies together with actors from Norway and Denmark with a focus on children's social and emotional development.

A study visit to our school usually lasts 1.5–2 hours and provides an inspiring insight into how we work with empathetic communication in everyday life. The visit includes an introduction to our working methods, a tour of the preschool and a concluding question and answer session.

In collaboration with EdFuture, we also offer courses held in English or Swedish and give participants a unique insight into our work with a consciously empathetic approach inspired by Nonviolent Communication (NVC).

As a complement to our study visits, we also offer our empathy game, where participants can practice listening empathetically, expressing feelings and needs in a playful and engaging way in order to develop a more conscious and empathetic approach in their encounters with both children and adults.

Study visit, courses & presentations

We have received many study visits over the years, have held training sessions and presentations both in Sweden and abroad. We have also participated in various research projects together with Norway and Denmark.

The study visits that we offer usually last 1.5 - 2 hours and consist of an introductory presentation, a visit to the preschool and a final question and answer session. We also offer workshops for adults, where you get the opportunity to try different exercises and materials that we use. Our presentations also cover how we work with empathic communication in combination with TAKK (supporting sign language for younger children). All our activities that we offer aim to support and increase awareness of your empathic ability to listen, both to yourself and to your surroundings.
